I Love Mondays

Monday again!

To be honest, I love Mondays.  I’ve always loved fresh starts, and Mondays are a way to start the week over, again and again.  We actually have a pretty busy week ahead, the little ones and I have a few activities scheduled, and I’m hoping that the weather will act a bit more spring-like.  Our winters are so long and cold that every year at the first sign of milder weather I send us all outdoors without realizing that mid-50s is still cold weather.

That’s what happened yesterday.  My phone was reading at 65 degrees, but between the time I read that and the time it took for us to get outside (which wasn’t actually that long), it was already down to 61.  And the wind was unrelenting, which made it actually quite cool.  I had brought some crochet with me, but my fingers were too cold and we ended up coming back inside and eating some hot soup.  Oh well!  It won’t be too much longer anyway.  At least I was able to leave the windows open today without freezing us out.  I do envy all of you enjoying true spring-like weather.

Well, being indoors gave me a chance to catch up on a few projects that I’d been working on.  The beginnings of each month are always devoted to the Block-a-Month Crochet-Along group on Ravelry.  It’s a nice way for me to kind of re-group my projects with a little bit of direction.  So when the chosen blocks go up for the month, I’m usually on them right away.  This month, like the others, there were three chosen: the square of the month; the square chosen by the group, and a 6-inch square that I always make into a 12-inch.  (It’ll be easier come the end of the year when it’s time to put them all together.)  Here are my projects.  They’re all free, and the links to the pattern and to my Ravelry pages are included under the photos as well:

I’m really pleased with my color selections this year – I love the peachy-pink and brown together. I’m thinking that I will actually keep this afghan to myself once it’s completed.

Besides these, I have so many other things in the works and in my queue that sometimes I think I’ll never catch up.  It doesn’t help that I’m constantly adding new things to it, though.   Well, there’s the fun, right?

And while we’re on the pink theme, this lovely flower pot stand is another completed project from last week.  But rather than put it under a plant just yet, we eventually decided to keep up the pretense of spring weather going with some delicious ice cream sundaes.
